I’ll take ‘records that I can’t find a fucking copy of’ for $100, David.

Current 93 – How He Loved the Moon (Moonsongs for Jhonn Balance) – 2xLP+7″

Dedicated to the Great Heart and Great Soul of our dearest friend
Jhonn Balance
16 February 1962 to 13 November 2004

With burning sadness and with burning sorrow we remember You as: kindest of men, funniest of men, most intuitive of men, most incisive of men, most generous of men a great artist, a great voice, a great visionary, a great Soul and a great Heart

Finally you were overwhelmed by it all: by all the beauty and by all the pain You perhaps never knew how much You were loved

Till we meet again as we know we will, our dearest friend, with love always to you dearest Geff, John, Jhonn shape-shifter and joker, in angelic form now, playing with stars in the love of God

David Tibet and Steven Stapleton 18 XI 2004

HOW HE LOVED THE MOON by CURRENT 93: release date and special boxed edition

Both the special and standard versions of the ‘How He Loved the Moon’ 2LP on Beta-lactam Ring will be ready to ship on 8 February 2005.

There will also be a deluxe edition of 20 copies for sale in a handmade black stained wood box. The box will include the 2LP, the 7″ from the special edition, the art print from the special edition, a signed insert that will only come with this box and a two sided 7″ acetate, which will be unavailable elsewhere, with one side featuring David Tibet reading the ‘MOONBIRD’ elegy that he wrote at Jhonn’s ‘death’, and the other side featuring a song performed by David and Ben Chasny of Six Organs of Admittance using the same words.

The deluxe edition will also include a numbered and signed four paged ‘funeral’ card, hand-printed for David and Beta-lactam Ring by Alan Anderson and limited to 20 copies, which reproduces the text of MOONBIRD and a short farewell message by David Tibet for Balance that he read at Jhonn’s funeral. A signed and numbered edition of 93 copies, printed on jade-green card as well as violet card was sent to attenders at Jhonn’s leaving celebration (aka ‘funeral’).

The box edition will be available towards the end of February 2005. This is not available from Durtro Mail Order, only from http://www.blrrecords.com

A limited edition of one copy of the deluxe edition, featuring all the items enclosed in the 20-copy edition, but with the numbered and signed four paged funeral card limited to 1 copy on a different coloured card with a different printed limitation notice, as well as a sheet with the words to MOONBIRD hand-written by David, is also being produced. This will be auctioned on eBay, with all the money from the auction going to the John Bradburne Memorial Society for their work at the Mutemwa Leprosy Mission in Zimbabwe. http://www.johnbradburne.com

An update will be sent out when this auction edition goes up for sale online.
