  1. I kept a close eye on this one … simply because of the TMA.

    TMA is really scary, scary shit. It reacts with the least bit of water in the air (not to mention oxygen), to the tune of setting the immediate area ablaze. I’ve known friends in the chem dept at U of O who have caught the wrong end of a Schlenk flask which contained some TMA (maybe a teaspoon) which burned their hand, arm, and left a rather lot of scar tissue.

    At one point, they used to use this stuff for really, really, really powerful rockets. The sad thing is that unless there’s special fuels in the rocket that is delivering the payload, the global impact of even more NOx gases in the upper atmosphere will make heatwaves like this one a constant thing… arrrgggg…
